Shungite Shortages: China’s Demand and Why I Still Have Access to Elite Grade
Share
There’s a real squeeze happening in the world of Shungite—especially elite grade. Demand from China has surged in recent months, and it’s putting serious pressure on global supply. This isn’t just speculation; elite-grade material is getting harder to source, and prices are climbing because of it.
Here’s the part most people don’t realize: elite Shungite doesn’t come in massive, convenient chunks. It forms in narrow, irregular veins that have to be carefully extracted by hand. Once those veins are picked clean, they’re gone. These aren’t renewable resources—this is ancient geological material that took over two billion years to form. What’s removed today is lost forever.
Thanks to my longstanding relationship with the mine, I have something rare right now: direct access. While others are struggling to secure even lower-grade material, I’m able to select elite Shungite straight from the source before it gets offered to the broader market.
Here’s a photo of a groove cut into the host rock—where a vein of elite Shungite has already been completely removed. You’re looking at the absence of elite. These grooves are becoming more common, and they tell you everything you need to know about how fast the high-grade material is disappearing.
Want Access? Here's What to Do
I maintain a registry for people who want first notification when new elite-grade Shungite arrives. Right now, there are over 10,000 customers on that list. When a dispatch message goes out, inventory moves fast—sometimes within minutes. On my website, a popup window will appear, asking you to register when you open the page - or - click on the corner tab on the top left. You will get a 7% discount code, AND be registered for updates.
Important:
If you want to secure a piece, don’t just leave it in your cart. Until you complete checkout, it can be sold out from under you. I see it happen regularly.
