GARY FONG is an American photographer, film director, entrepreneur, and the founder of Verified Shungite, the source-to-delivery shungite verification business behind this book.
Born in Seattle, he entered the University of California at Santa Barbara to study pharmacology, largely to satisfy his parents' wish that he become a doctor, until a chance Life magazine article on his mother's longtime friend, the wedding photographer Rocky Gunn, redirected his life. He apprenticed with Gunn until Gunn died of a sudden heart attack at forty-two, then started a wedding-photography business out of his parents' bedroom and went on to photograph Sylvester Stallone, Ronald Reagan, Paul McCartney, Bruce Lee, Priscilla Presley, and many others.
In 2000 he was named one of the top ten wedding photographers in the world on the worldwide livestream Weddings 2000. He has served as an official spokesperson for Hasselblad, Kodak, Fujifilm, Art Leather, Canon, and Sony.
In 2015 he was discovered as a screenwriter by entertainment attorney Shelley Surpin and literary agent Matt Leipzig. Two of his screenplays were named finalists in the Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Competition. He has since written ten screenplays and directed his first Hollywood feature film project.
In 2018 a constellation of EMF-driven symptoms led him to a small black rock from a remote forest in Russia. He has spent the years since building the protocols, testing apparatus, and verification chain that make up the second half of this book. He lives with his wife Faith and their twins, Wesley and Willow.
